Compress Your 1 GB data/movie in Just 10 MB

It is Amazing to say compress ur 1GB data/move into 10MB. Really it is possible with the KGB Freeware (Open source) software. U can Down load the software from  kgb offcial website.it's free
Its simple..Heres the procedure..
U can compress that data in two formats..
1) KGB format
2) ZIP format ..
Everyone knows the ZIP format..I tell u which is better & why..If u do it in KGB format it takes 5-6 hours on a 256 mb RAM, to compress 1 GB data/movie in less than 10 MB , but (this is not which i prefer) coz to decompress u take the same time..
So its useless..& u need KGB archiver only only for this format to decompress..But if u do it in ZIP format it takes 6-7 hours on a 256 MB ram, but i tell u its worth coz WINRAR & WINZIP both can decompress it in seconds.. OK now its clear that which format to use & which is better..
Now we'll go how to use that software..Run the application>> It asks for which file u wanna compress>> select the file>> after u select>> U get two options in which format u want to compress it>> select ZIP format ( I prefer ) >> and then set compression level to maximum (maximum the compression level , small the size of it will be compressed)>> Just ignore the time given below it coz its just useless....... There is option that u can auto shutdown ur computer after the compression is over..SO u can got school/college/office & keep it to get compressed..

Note:- It take some time to compress

How to insert YouTube movies into PowerPoint slide...

You can insert the YouTube movies into your PowerPoint slides to express your idea or better way to communicate something. You can convey these ideas in more effective ways, if you are using movie files with your simple slides.  Follow the given steps to add YouTube movies into PowerPoint slides:  First of all download the YouTube.com movies and then save on your computer hard drive. Mostly movies are available in flash video file format on YouTube site. You can convert also the downloaded movies from YouTube into any common format, for example, windows media video file (wmv), windows video file (avi) and movie file (mpeg).  First of all open the presentation in which you want to insert movie file.
Now click on "Movies and Sounds" option from the Insert" menu and choose the option "Movie from File".

Now select your movie that you want to insert into slide and click on Ok button.

Here now you are asked "Do you want your movie to play automatically in the slide show? If not, it will play when you click it."

Recommend choosing Ok button to play automatically even if you want the movie to play when clicked.  Finally save your PowerPoint presentation and run it for test.

When you connect to a web site your computer sends...

When you connect to a web site your computer sends information back and forth. Some of this information deals with resolving the site name to an IP address, the stuff that TCP/IP really deals with, not words. This is DNS information and is used so that you will not need to ask for the site location each and every time you visit the site. Although Windows XP and Windows XP have a pretty efficient DNS cache, you can increase its overall performance by increasing its size. You can do this with the registry entries below:
Quote:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters]  "CacheHashTableBucketSize"=dword:00000001  "CacheHashTableSize"=dword:00000180  "MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000fa00  "MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000012d Make a new text file and rename it to dnscache.reg. Then copy and paste the above into it and save it. Merge it into the registry.

Laptops - Tricks

Make Your Own Power Plan  Windows laptops include a few preset power plans for maximizing battery life, but you can also customize your operating system's power-management features (in Windows XP, under Power Options in the Control Panel; in Vista, under Mobile PC in the Control Panel). Setting aggressive targets for when the display turns off and when the machine goes into sleep or hibernate mode will help your battery last longer.

Limit Your Connection When you aren't actively using your notebook's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WWAN, or other wireless connections, turn the radios off (via the hard switch, if your PC has one, or using the appropriate utility), so they don't run down the battery while they keep searching for a signal. Also, use USB-attached devices sparingly while you're mobile.

Track it down Thousands of laptops are reported stolen every year. Our advice? Prepare for the worst by investing in tracking software like Absolute Software's Lojack for Laptops, CyberAngel Security, or the free TheLaptopLock. These utilities can pinpoint a registered notebook's location once it connects to the Web, increasing your chances of recovering your system.

Dim the display A laptop's biggest battery-life-sucking component is its LCD display. To eke out more juice when you're off the plug, turn down your panel's brightness to the lowest level your eyes can stand. Most notebooks have a Function key combo—or even a dedicated hot key—for a quick crank-down. (You can also adjust brightness in Display Settings under Control Panel.)

Keep It Cool  Thanks to their small, cramped cases and tiny vents, laptops are prone to overheating. Unfortunately, using your notebook on your lap—or on top of a blanket that protects your lap from your scalding-hot notebook—can seriously stifle ventilation and make matters worse. To help keep temperatures in check, opt for a lap desk or a laptop cooling pad that won't conduct heat or block your laptop's vents.

Back Up Everything Constant movement puts computer components at risk, and because of their portability, laptops suffer a lot more wear and tear than desktops. All of that on-the-go use increases the risk of hard drive failure, so make sure you back up the data on your laptop to an external hard drive, thumb drive, or home server on a regular basis. Portable hard drives like the Western Digital Passport Elite make it easy to back up your data on the road.

Cover Your Keyboard Keep liquids away from laptops at all times. That rule often gets broken, of course, and accidents happen. Should that accident end up on your laptop's keyboard, however, you could end up with more than just a mess: Liquids that seep through your notebook's keys can fry its components. Protect your notebook from spills with a custom-built, plastic keyboard cover from ProtecT Laptop Covers.

Buy a Bag  If you plan to carry your notebook with you, the most useful accessory you can buy is a laptop bag. They're available in a number of styles and prices; for maximum protection, we recommend investing in a model with a built-in padded sleeve. If you want something less conspicuous (thieves have been known to target obvious-looking laptop bags), cover your laptop in stand-alone sleeve and stow it in your backpack or briefcase.

Let It Accumulate  When you move your laptop from a cold to a warm environment, and vice versa, don't boot up until your system reaches room temperature. Sudden temperature changes can cause condensation to build up inside the notebook case; turn it on too quickly, and the moisture could damage your system's inner components.

20 things you didn't know about Windows XP

You've read the reviews and digested the key feature enhancements and operational changes. Now it's time to delve a bit deeper and uncover some of Windows XP's secrets.

1. It boasts how long it can stay up. Whereas previous versions of Windows were coy about how long they went between boots, XP is positively proud of its stamina. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type 'systeminfo'. The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type 'systeminfo > info.txt'. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2. You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run... and type 'gpedit.msc'; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care -- some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only).

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter 'rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers' for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options -- they're all far too baroque to go into here.

6. XP has IP version 6 support -- the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than your ISP has, so you can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type 'ipv6 install' into Run... (it's OK, it won't ruin your existing network setup) and then 'ipv6 /?' at the command line to find out more. If you don't know what IPv6 is, don't worry and don't bother.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you've got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files well alone by typing 'regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' at the command line. If you change your mind later, you can put things back as they were by typing 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll'.

9. XP has ClearType -- Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology -- but doesn't have it enabled by default. It's well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable ClearType, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select ClearType from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/FontSmoothingType to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who's using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192.168.1.10. Replace this with your chum's real IP address -- they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com -- and get them to make sure that they've got port 3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click the icon, select Run As... and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

  12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might slip the bonds of sanity before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Advanced and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run... from the start menu and type 'control userpasswords2', which will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box will appear; enter the user name and password for the account you want to use.

14. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically delete temporary files, but only if you tell it to. Start the browser, select Tools / Internet Options... and Advanced, go down to the Security area and check the box to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

15. XP comes with a free Network Activity Light, just in case you can't see the LEDs twinkle on your network card. Right click on My Network Places on the desktop, then select Properties. Right click on the description for your LAN or dial-up connection, select Properties, then check the Show icon in notification area when connected box. You'll now see a tiny network icon on the right of your task bar that glimmers nicely during network traffic.

16. The Start Menu can be leisurely when it decides to appear, but you can speed things along by changing the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/MenuShowDelay from the default 400 to something a little snappier. Like 0.

17. You can rename loads of files at once in Windows Explorer. Highlight a set of files in a window, then right click on one and rename it. All the other files will be renamed to that name, with individual numbers in brackets to distinguish them. Also, in a folder you can arrange icons in alphabetised groups by View, Arrange Icon By... Show In Groups.

18. Windows Media Player will display the cover art for albums as it plays the tracks -- if it found the picture on the Internet when you copied the tracks from the CD. If it didn't, or if you have lots of pre-WMP music files, you can put your own copy of the cover art in the same directory as the tracks. Just call it folder.jpg and Windows Media Player will pick it up and display it.

19. Windows key + Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box; Windows key + D brings up the desktop; Windows key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.  20. The next release of Windows XP, codenamed Longhorn, is due and won't be much to write home about. The next big release is codenamed Blackcomb.

How to install Windows 7 from a USB key

Microsoft's TechNet magazine has posted instructions on installing Windows 7 from a USB key - which will be very handy for anyone installing Windows 7 on a netbook, in particular.  Installing Windows 7 from a USB key will also be faster than installing it from DVD.  Dennis Chung, IT Pro Evangelist at Microsoft, posted a video explaining the process.  Here, according to TechNet, is what you need to do:

1. You should already have DiskPart installed on your Windows machine - you'll use this to prepare the USB drive. If this free disk partitioning app isn't already already installed, you can download DiskPart from Microsoft.
2. Launch DiskPart by typing diskpart into the Start search box.
3. Now run the list disk command to check the status of your drive.
4. Next, run select disk 1 where the "1" is actually the corresponding number of your USB drive.
5. Now run clean.
6. Once that's done, run create partition primary.
7. Now you can make the partition active by entering active.
8. Next, set up the file system as Fat32 by running format fs=fat32 quick.
9. Enter the assign command to give the USB drive a drive letter - this will make it easier to access from Windows Explorer.
10. Drag and drop the contents of your Windows 7 installation DVD onto the USB drive to copy the files across.
11. Stick the USB key drive into the machine you want to install Windows 7 onto and boot the system from the drive. The Windows 7 installation will now begin.

Gtalk as a FM Receiver and Voip Phone

Making your Gtalk as an online FM streaming device is not a complicated task but a simple 3 step process as 123. With the help of a third party service called Gtalk 2 Voip we could attain this functionality.

What is Gtalk 2 Voip ?
GTalk2VoIP is a free and publicly open voice gateway
for major Instant Messenger clients. It makes possible voice
interoperability between Google Talk, MSN/Live Messenger, Yahoo!
Messenger and SIP phones without any additional software installation.

How can I hear FM in Gtalk?
Teen Taal 110 a hindi Fm station which aims at delivering new hindi songs can now be heard right away from your google talk.

All you have to do is to follow the steps below:

* Open your Google talk and Sign in
* After Signing In, click the add button and add this id service@gtalk2voip.com
* After adding, add the second Id 110@radio.gtalk2voip.com
* After completion of the steps above, make a call to the second id i.e call to 110@radio.gtalk2voip.com
* Now you will directly be connected to Teen Taal Fm Station. (voice quality is average)

The first step of adding id would make you register the gtalk2voip service!

Other features of Gtalk2Voip:

* Make calls from Google Talk, Yahoo or MSN to any mobile or landline phone (PSTN)
* Make calls to other Google Talk, Yahoo! and MSN/Live Messenger users or SIP phones (SIP URI)
* Create voice conferences with other Google Talk, Yahoo! or MSN/Live Messenger users
* Send or receive voicemail from/to Google Talk, Yahoo! or MSN/Live Messenger users
* Receive calls to your Google Talk, Yahoo! or MSN/Live Messenger
from mobile or landline phones (PSTN) by using DIDs or via SIP Broker
service
* Receive calls from SIP phones, including Gizmo Project, InPhonex, SJPhone and others
* Send SIP/SIMPLE instant messages to SIP phones

How it works?

Some of the services I mentioned above may be chargeable while they
offer free incoming calls from sip phones to your gtalk, incoming call
from PSTN to your gtalk, making calls to other IMs etc.

So now you get a free incoming SIP number, PSTN access number for Gtalk etc which you can add on to build your business widely.

Gtalk 2 voip also provides support for mobile platform with their specially designed application called Talkonaut which helps them to access and enjoy their voip services from their handheld.

Auto Shutdown PC With Timer

Guys sometimes you feel d need of a way by which your PC shuts down automatically after a particular amount of time....well here are not one but three ways of doing it without using any external software...

********** METHOD # 1 **********
Step 1:

Right click on your desktop and choose "New=>shortcuts".

Step 2:

In the box that says "Type the location of the shortcut",
type in "shutdown -s -t 3600" without the quotation marks and click next.

Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So , 60secs*60mins=3600secs.

Step 3:

Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done.
You can change the icon by right clicking=>properities=>change icon=>browse.

To abort

To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make
the "location of the shortcut" to " shutdown -a" without the quotes.

********** METHOD # 2 **********
start=>Run

Type Code: at 11:35 shutdown -s

to abort

Code:

shutdown -a

take note: all time are in 24hr, example u would like to shutdown at 8:30pm, you should type

"at 20:30 shutdown -s" without quote

********** METHOD # 3 **********
you can use a batch for that as well it makes it easier to use
just run the batch and enter the time you want it to shutdown

shutdown.bat
Type Code:
Code:

[php]@echo off
title Scheduled Shutdown Batch Example by chacha1234
color A
echo Enter Time To Shutdown (example 19:30)
set /p stime=
cls
at %stime% ""shutdown -s -t 00"" >nul
echo Your PC Will Auto Shutdown At %stime%
echo Press Any Key To Exit
pause >nul
exit
